The Ribbon is Cut!

Isi and Michelle Tukuafu and their seven children cut the ribbon on their new Spanish Fork home this past Saturday. The five bedroom, 2 bathroom home, located at 1997 East 1180 South, is Habitat's 38th Utah Valley home and is the third Habitat home to be located in Spanish Fork. Special thanks to all those that helped make the home a reality. Kudos also to Red Rock Orthodontics for making the house a home by decorating many of the rooms in the new home.

Running in the Halls!

Over 70 runners ran (or walked) the halls of Utah Valley University at last Saturday's No Snow Indoor 5 K to help raise money for the UVU Habitat home currently being built with the Terry family in Provo. For their efforts, participants received a shirt, a yummy pancake breakfast, and a free Wendy's Frosty. Thanks to all that made the second annual event a great success! Special appreciation to Alexis Palmer, the UVU Outdoor Adventure Center, UVU Intramurals, the UVU Service Council, Wendy's and Integrity Food Group, the UVU Volunteer and Service Learning Center, Val Hale, and the UVU Wellness Center.

LOCAL HABITAT RESTORES RAISE MONEY FOR HAITI RELIEF EFFORTS

The Habitat ReStore Home Improvement Outlets in Orem and Salt Lake raised almost $5,000 for Habitat for Humanity International’s relief efforts in Haiti this past week. The local home improvement outlets held a special Haiti Week from February 15th through the 20th with 20 percent of their profit being donated to the relief efforts. Habitat for Humanity International is currently involved in the immediate relief efforts in Haiti and is working to address long-term shelter solutions for low-income families affected by the devastating earthquake in that country. The worldwide housing organization has pledged to help 50,000 Haitian families get back into simple, decent homes. To donate or for more information, look online at www.habitat.org.

ALL PREPPED! LOCAL HABITAT HOMEOWNERS WORK ON SPONSORED HOME!

Habitat for Humanity of Utah County homeowners and partner families helped Rochelle Wise and her family prep for paint at the local affiliate’s second ever homeowner sponsored home this past Saturday. The three bedroom home is being currently built by inmates at the Utah State Prison and is located at 267 West 1200 North, Orem. This is the second Utah Valley Habitat home to be funded almost entirely by Habitat homeowner mortgage payments.
