Tool Lending Library

Habitat for Humanity of Utah County cut the ribbon on its new Tool Lending Library today. City and Chamber representatives, Habitat board and staff members and families, and members of the local media were on hand as the affiliate officially opened the innovative lending library. The library, located inside Habitat's ReStore at 626 North Freedom Blvd., in Provo, offers free tools and lawn care items for rent to the Utah County residents 18 years and older. The first tool to be checked out of the the library today was a chop saw. Soon to be Habitat homeowner, Keith Norman, borrowed the saw to finish the back fence he has been working on at his new home in Spanish Fork. The library boasts about 20 tool options and was made possible by a grant from Provo City and discounts from Lowe's Home Improvement Store. The affiliate hopes to increase its inventory to 500 tools in the future. Tools can be checked out Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for residential use for up to seven days. Those wanting to check out items, must complete an application, sign a waiver form, and show proof of residency (driver's license and utility bill). To find out what tools are available, make application, or for more information, look online at http://www.habitatuc.org/ or call (801) 373-7867.
