WELLS FARGO “TEAMS” WITH HABITATThe Wells Fargo Foundation, through its Team Member Volunteer Program, recently donated $15,000 to support Habitat for Humanity of Utah County’s affordable housing mission. The generous funding will be used to help make safe and affordable housing a reality for the local Tukuafu family of nine.

Local Wells Fargo team members will be taking a few hours off from work this Thursday, August 13, 2009 from 8:00 to noon to help work on the family’s Habitat home. The five bedroom home is currently being constructed at 1997 East 1180 South in Spanish Fork.

The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation was created to provide permanent solutions to affordable housing needs in Wells Fargo communities nationwide. Through the volunteerism of Wells Fargo team members, more than 1,500 homes have been built or renovated since the foundation’s inception in 1993.

WELCOME TO HAMMER TOWNE! BACK TO SCHOOL EDITION!Habitat for Humanity of Utah County and the Provo Towne Centre will sponsor the third annual “Welcome to Hammer Towne – Back to School Edition” event this Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 12-5. The Habitat awareness event will be held throughout the Provo mall and will include information tables about affiliate programs, fun youth activities, free popcorn, drinks, and school supplies, and visits from Bob the Builder and the Green Fiber Frog. Special thanks to Sun Roc, Panda Express, Target, Green Fiber Insulation and General Growth Properties to making this event possible.

EAT AT PANDA EXPRESS AND HELP HABITATPanda Express will be hosting a community fundraising event for the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate on Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 12-6 at its Provo Towne Centre Mall food court location. This is a special donations event where every customer who brings in an event flyer will have their receipt tallied for a 20% donation to the local Habitat affiliate. Flyers can be found on the Habitat website at www.habitatuc.org or picked up at the Habitat office at 626 North Freedom Blvd., Provo. Print out the flyer, bring your family, eat lunch or dinner, and help those in need of safe and affordable housing in our community.

Habitat for Humanity of Utah County is a non-profit, ecumenical organization and is one of more than 2,300 affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International. The local affiliate is committed to eliminating poverty housing and homelessness in the county by building or renovating simple, decent homes with area residents in need of affordable shelter. Affiliated in 1991 by a group of local community members that were concerned about substandard housing in the county, the organization has built or renovated 36 homes providing more than 57 adults and 120 children safe and affordable housing and a stable home environment. The affiliate is currently building a home in Spanish Fork and working on its Brimhall Estates rehabilitation/infill project in Provo.
