BEWARE OF DOOR TO DOOR SOLICITATION ON BEHALF OF HABITAT Habitat for Humanity of Utah County is warning college students and other community members to beware of a door to door solicitor that is asking for money on behalf of Habitat for Humanity and its Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts. This individual has not been authorized by Habitat for Humanity International or Habitat for Humanity of Utah County to solicit funds on the organization’s behalf. In addition, the individual does not have the city approved credentials to solicit door to door. If you are approached by this individual, please call the Provo Police Department immediately at (801) 852-6210.

JOIN HABITAT IN PRAYER FOR THOSE IN NEED OF ADEQUATE SHELTER Habitat for Humanity of Utah County will be holding its Annual Day of Prayer and Action for Human Habitat event on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at the Provo Community Church at 175 North University Avenue, Provo. Dean Jackson, Lead Pastor at the Rock Canyon Church, and Daniel Haas, Reverend at Provo Community Church, will be speaking. Well known soloist, Serena Benish, will be performing. All interested community members are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.

The International Day of Prayer and Action, observed on the third Sunday in September, is a time when the entire Habitat for Humanity community is urged to come together in prayer for those in need of shelter. Through prayer, Habitat for Humanity continues to make a dramatic difference in the lives of people around the world.

HABITAT TO HOLD FREE CAR WASH IN NORTH COUNTY TO SHOWCASE RECYCLING PROGRAMSHabitat for Humanity of Utah County will be holding another free car wash to promote its Cars for Homes program on Saturday, September 19, 2009 in the Alphagraphics parking lot located at 310 North 850 East, Lehi. Community members can stop by between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., have their car washed, and learn about Habitat’s vehicle donation program and other recycling programs. Donations are welcome.

Habitat for Humanity of Utah County is a non-profit, ecumenical organization and is one of more than 2,300 affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International. The local affiliate is committed to eliminating poverty housing and homelessness in the county by building or renovating simple, decent homes with area residents in need of affordable shelter. Affiliated in 1991 by a group of local community members that were concerned about substandard housing in the county, the organization has built or renovated 36 homes providing more than 57 adults and 120 children safe and affordable housing and a stable home environment. The affiliate is currently building homes in Spanish Fork and Orem and working on its Brimhall Estates rehabilitation/infill project in Provo.
