Landscaping has begun at Washburn Reams Estates

The long awaited retaining wall was completed mid-June and all grading and excavating is finished at Washburn Reams Estates in Orem, meaning it is time to landscape.

The three lot subdivision in Orem received an infusion of help on Friday, June 26th, when 47 youth and leaders of the Canyon Corner 5th Ward in Draper arrived bright and early to begin landscaping. The group spent the morning in above normal temperature raking, planting, and installing the sprinkling systems at the Aleman and Fisiipeau family homes. They also pulled countless weeds and dug fence post holes and trenches, while laughing and getting to know each other better. We are grateful for their hard work as they made a huge dent in the landscaping plan.

On Saturday, the BYU Habitat for Humanity Chapter members and students from the Rural Housing Development Y-Serve program installed 37 fence posts using over 80 bags of heavy concrete. They also worked in high temperatures, but this day on the steep hillside behind the two homes. Again, we are so grateful for their hard (and sweaty) work to help get the fence ready to build. Saturday afternoon, individual community volunteers finished up the sprinkling system and filled in trenches, leaving the subdivision ready for sod and a fence to build.
