FUTURE HOMEOWNERS GRADUATE FROM GETTING AHEAD

Seven future Habitat homeowners graduated from Habitat's Getting Ahead program on August 10th. Many of their family members joined them as they celebrated this accomplishment with a graduation ceremony at the Habitat Orem office. The Getting Ahead program is a step-by- step life planning and education program that includes facilitated education, group support, and hands on experiences. Participants attend a weekly group session facilitated by a trained facilitator and follow a workbook with various modules. The group sessions last for 12-15 weeks. The overall goal of the program is to help area families work together to break the poverty cycle, find solutions to community issues, and build bridges to a more stable and productive life. Special thanks to David Harlow for volunteering his time to facilitate this important course.
