Habitat had the opportunity to participate in the first annual Affordable Housing Walk on Wednesday and highlight our 5th and 5th project in Provo. The Affordable Housing Walk, sponsored by the Mountainland Continuum of Care, was held to bring awareness for the need for affordable housing in our community, to help better show the barriers to housing, and to demonstrate the importance of HUD funding to local housing projects. A large crowd of local community leaders and members were in attendance and after listening to remarks from Tara Rollins, the Executive Director of the Utah Housing Coalition, and Lynell Smith, the Executive Director at the Housing Authority of Utah County, they walked to various downtown Provo locations, where local housing providers, including Habitat, showcased successful projects along the housing continuum.
