Habitat Restores Celebrate Birthdays with a Massive Sale and Giveaways

The Habitat for Humanity of Utah County’s ReStores in Orem and Spanish Fork will celebrate their eighth and second birthdays respectively by having a huge sale and giveaways. The sale will take place on three consecutive days from April 23 to April 25, 2015. Everything in both stores including home appliances, building materials, and furniture will be sold at discounted prices. Proceeds from the sale will be given to Habitat’s housing mission.

“ReStores not only help fund Habitat’s mission here in Utah County, but we can also provide building material, furniture, cabinets, plumbing, hardware, etc. at a huge discount to help the community save on their repairs and maintenance cost,” said Rick McBride, ReStore Director for Habitat for Humanity of Utah County. “We re-use, recycle, and ReStore to help our environment.”

Thanks to Habitat ReStores’ efforts, two million pounds of garbage have been recycled to build new homes instead of ending up in landfills. Restores have been recycling many waste and materials, considered as C&D debris, to provide Utah residents an eco-friendly lifestyle as well as offering inexpensive options to many homeowners.

Besides recycling regular home accessories and appliances, ReStores also recycle paint. Paint waste contains harmful constituents, causing damage to the environment. As a result, Habitat provides an environmentally friendly solution by collecting left over paint and recycling paint for sale. It is reported that Habitat ReStores have been able to process around 12,000 to 14,000 gallons of paint in 2014.

Habitat opened its first ReStore Home Improvement Outlet and donation center in Orem, located at 340 South Orem Blvd. in 2007. The Orem ReStore received huge success as it was able to raise tens of thousands of dollars for the affiliate and pay most of the operation costs for the affiliate and the store. In April 2013, a second location in Spanish Fork, 253 West Arrowhead Trail was opened and has achieved positive results. Habitat is currently looking for a ReStore location in North Utah County.
