Seven future Habitat homeowners graduated from Habitat's Getting Ahead program on August 10th. Many of their family members joined them as they celebrated this accomplishment with a graduation ceremony at the Habitat Orem office. The Getting Ahead program is a step-by- step life planning and education program that includes facilitated education, group support, and hands on experiences. Participants attend a weekly group session facilitated by a trained facilitator and follow a workbook with various modules. The group sessions last for 12-15 weeks. The overall goal of the program is to help area families work together to break the poverty cycle, find solutions to community issues, and build bridges to a more stable and productive life.
